Enroll

Here’s how to enroll.

How to enroll

You can enroll by visiting our location in Berea, KY, or at any enrollment/audition event. Have questions before you enroll? Email chad@spotlightactingschool.com or call 859-756-0011.

Who can enroll

Everyone is welcome. Each program has its own age range, and as long as you fit the guidelines for that program, you can take part.

For younger students, our shows are a welcoming first step into theater. Many productions are built with children and early teens in mind, and every audition notice lists the age range for that show. No experience is needed — students learn by doing, both on stage and behind the scenes, alongside our staff and volunteers.

For college students and adults, we’ve grown beyond our beginnings as a children’s theater. Our Performance Workshop Series combines weekly acting training with rehearsal for a full production. If you’ve known us as a children’s theater, this is new: our stage is now open to teens and adults who want to learn and perform.

Auditions are separate from enrollment

You do not need to be enrolled yet to audition. It is our goal to cast everyone who auditions in a role. Auditions are open to everyone in the age range listed for each production, and pre-enrollment is not required. Roles are assigned based on talent, experience, fair rotation, and what the director believes will be challenging and rewarding for each student. See current audition announcements.

What enrollment includes

Students learn through production — participating in full-scale productions that teach every aspect of theater, from costume design and set construction to music and performance. Our 13,000 square foot facility features two professional theaters, and we produce over 125 performances annually.

Tuition and financial assistance

Base tuition is $105 per month, with sibling discounts available. Limited financial assistance is available. We believe financial circumstances should not automatically prevent someone from participating, and our goal is to work with families whenever possible. This assistance is made possible through the support of the Bluegrass Players, community members, donors, and participating families. There is no application or financial paperwork to complete. Families who need assistance can speak with our counselor, and arrangements are handled on the honor system. Assistance is generally paired with an agreed-upon exchange of hours to help support the school. These opportunities may include ushering, working in the box office or concessions, helping with the building, organizing, cleaning, set construction, painting, and other practical support. See our Tuition Payments page for auto-pay options.

Most of the information families need can be found here on our website or in the audition information for the specific show. We encourage you to start there.
