Bluegrass Players, under the esteemed direction of Chad Hembree, are excited to announce auditions for the timeless classic, “The Importance of Being Earnest.” This comedic masterpiece by Oscar Wilde delves into the intricacies of society, love, and, of course, the importance of being earnest. The auditions are scheduled for November 27th at 7:30 pm at the Spotlight Playhouse, located at 214 Richmond Road in Berea.

“The Importance of Being Earnest” is a tale of mistaken identities, love, and satirical wit. Dive into the world of Jack and Algernon, two friends who adopt the same pseudonym “Ernest” to pursue their romantic interests, leading to a whirlwind of confusion and hilarity. With its sharp wit, engaging characters, and intricate plot twists, this production promises to be both entertaining and thought-provoking.

  • Jack Worthing: A responsible and respectable young man who leads a double life.
  • Algernon Moncrieff: Jack’s reckless and charming friend, also leading a double life.
  • Gwendolen Fairfax: Algernon’s cousin and Jack’s love interest, obsessed with the name “Ernest.”
  • Cecily Cardew: Jack’s ward, a romantic young lady who falls for Algernon.
  • Lady Bracknell: Gwendolen’s formidable mother, a symbol of Victorian earnestness.
  • Miss Prism: Cecily’s governess with a secret past.
