🎭 Spotlight Playhouse is excited to announce auditions for our upcoming production of Steel Magnolias, a heartwarming and funny story about friendship, love, and resilience set in a small Southern beauty salon.

Characters:

  1. Truvy Jones (35-45)
The owner of the beauty salon. Warm, outgoing, and always armed with a joke or a bit of advice. Truvy is the backbone of the group and loves being surrounded by her clients and friends.
  2. Annelle Dupuy-DeSoto (19-25)
Truvy’s eager and sometimes awkward new assistant. Starting as shy and reserved, she undergoes a transformation, becoming more confident as the story progresses.
  3. Clairee Belcher (55-70)
The former mayor’s widow. Sharp-witted, sarcastic, and sophisticated. Clairee is a grande dame with a sweet disposition and a love for sports.
  4. Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie (25-30)
The young, spirited bride-to-be. Shelby is determined to live life to the fullest, despite her health challenges. She’s charming, headstrong, and full of Southern grace.
  5. M’Lynn Eatenton (45-60)
Shelby’s strong, practical mother. M’Lynn is protective and caring but struggles to balance her emotions as she deals with Shelby’s choices.
  6. Ouiser Boudreaux (55-70)
A no-nonsense, cranky neighbor with a tough exterior but a heart of gold. Ouiser is often the comic relief but has moments of great depth and vulnerability.
